The history of this car, which was completed in December 1961—still within the “flat floor” production period—began on January 4, 1962, when it was sold by a Jaguar dealer in New York to its first owner, Dr. H.B. Henderson, who took it with him to California.
The colors in which it was delivered are exactly the same as today: an attractive bronze called “Opalescent Bronze” with a black interior and hood.
Unfortunately, it was lost to history until it was found in a field in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in precarious condition. It had suffered damage to the rear bodywork, was partially dismantled, and was then put up for sale in that state.
From that moment on, the car passed through several hands in Europe, without anyone ever taking on the challenge of putting it back together. Eventually, when it arrived in Italy, it was fully restored, with the missing parts recovered and everything original preserved. Unfortunately, over the years, the original engine had been lost and was replaced with a correct one, both in terms of model and period, with a block dated 1961.
The car has traveled only a few kilometers since the restoration, has Belgian registration documents, and is ready to be registered.
